Nov 16 Cancellation - Due to an illness and a few other unforeseen obstacles, the hike into the Globe area of the GNSA on November16 has to be cancelled. There are hopes of resurrecting it into two separate and smaller hikes in the springtime.
Sorry for the inconvenience and disappointment this may have caused.

Nov 16 Hiking - Carol Monahan and Monica Olinger will lead a Consolation Hike to South Mountains State Park on Sunday, November 16. Meet at 10AM at Southwest Library on 127S in Mountain View or in the main parking lot at South Mountains State Park at 10:45AM. Though it'll only be a three mile loopthe walk to the waterfalls, it involves a fair amount of step climbing. Just show up with comfortable hiking shoes, a walking stick, layered clothing, snack foods and water.
Dec 15 Hiking - Brian plans to lead a hike on the Cold Prong trail . It's an easy level hike of just under 5 miles. We will set a shuttle to avoid back tracking. The trail goes through hardwoods ,open meadows and old apple orchards with pretty good views and a small waterfall.

Expect to leave Lowes Foods on HWY 321 at 9 a.m. Those interested should contact me by E MAIL at

Jan 7 Meeting - Wednesday, at 7:00pm at the Robert E. Papp Building on the main campus of Catawba Valley Community College (Directions). Room location will be posted on the main entrance.
