Mar 20 Hiking - Wilton Scronce needs more grits, so he plans to head out toward Stone Mt. Saturday. The first stop is Linney's mill for the grits and etc. Next we stop in Union Grove for a bite to eat and enjoy some "picking and whatever", then we travel to the Amish store for snacks. As we travel through Ronda, we usually stop and see if the locals bottled up any grapes from last season. At this point we may need to change drivers to head over to climb the many steps to view on Stone Mt. This can be an all day event if the group gets too involved in grape extract.(or Blue Grass). We should leave from Food Lion in Conover (SW of intersection of hwy 16 and 70) around 8:00 A.M. Wilton Scronce 828-302-2350 wilton.scronce@gmail.com

April 10
Hiking - Weather permitting I would like to plan a hike for Saturday APRIL10

The hike would start at the Boulders Access visitor center in Crowders Mountain State Park, climb up to King's Pinnacle, and end at the Crowders Mountain main visitor center. The route will follow the Ridgeline Trail and descend via the Turnback Trail. The hike is one way, and we would need to set a shuttle.

Hike length is just at about 7 miles. The hike is rated Moderate, with a couple of short strenuous sections. There are great views from the Pinnacle, including the Charlotte skyline.
The trails can be found via  www.ncparks.gov  Crowders Mountain & Pinnacle.

Ask members to please e mail Brian at   larbenzheit@charter.net if they intend to join this hike. If the forecast is bad I will e mail cancellation by 9 p.m. the night before, and reschedule.

Hike limit is 18, no kids , no dogs. Bring lunch , water etc. There are rocks and roots all along some areas,so hikers are advised to wear hiking boots versus wearing sneakers (i.e. turned ankles)    .
